Let say i had the power to fly, will i age any faster

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-04-26] [Hit: ]
as I sit in this chair, I can consider myself to be stationary with respect to a space shuttle orbiting the earth.the space shuttle is going 20,000mph.according to relativity, the astronauts traveling at that speed will age slower compared to me (and this has been experimentally verified using clocks).......
And please explain why or why not

the problem with this question is two-fold... age faster with respect to what?

the second thing is that increased velocities (speed) with respect to some stationary point lead to a slowing down of time.

let me explain... as I sit in this chair, I can consider myself to be stationary with respect to a space shuttle orbiting the earth. the space shuttle is going 20,000mph. according to relativity, the astronauts traveling at that speed will age slower compared to me (and this has been experimentally verified using clocks). of course, the amount is extremely small...like one-billionth of a second.

if you had the power to fly... how fast? you would age slower with respect to something that is not moving. if you are flying at 2mph and i am flying at 5mph, then you will age faster compared to me.

you must be going significantly close to the speed of light to see these effects in any meaningful manner.

To further understand, google the twins paradox
wikipedia has a nice article

These are two irrelevant things.

And this is an astronomy question, how?

-
sure. flapping your arms takes a lot out of you. it would drive anyone to an early grave.

no
