When will prices for commercial space flights be affordable enough for anyone to try

I doubt space travel is going to become affordable anytime in the near future....plus you have to think of safety, regulation,......
As of today, it costs $200,000 per person with Virgin Galactic
( http://www.virgingalactic.com/booking/ ).

When (in how many years) do you think will that price drop sufficiently enough for anyone to be able to afford? When (if ever) do you think a LEO ticket would cost as much as today's coast to coast (US) airliner ticket?

-
Probably not. Space travel is extremely expensive.

-
People can barely afford a regular plane ticket due to fees and the price of fuel going up all the time. I doubt space travel is going to become affordable anytime in the near future....plus you have to think of safety, regulation, etc. Right now in the US, they're dissolving the space program so that kind of ends US research or interest in space....unfortunately.

As the other posters said, energy is very expensive and even the Virgin G. space-plane runs on oil.

If only there were some energy source falling from the sky. But alas, it seems like a hard thing to miss. After all, I think we'd notice some sort of giant energy source that was just hanging the sky all day. Plus, it's very dark and cold at night. So that pretty much rules out locating energy in the sky.

Back to burning dead plants I suppose. I wonder where they got all their energy from?

-
That will never happen because so much energy is needed. You have to pay for the energy used unless you are an astronaut when the government pays for the energy needed.

-
It will probably be several decades before it's cheap enough for the majority of people to realistically afford it.

-
Not likely.
It takes a lot of energy to lift mass into space,
and energy is getting more expensive.

-
As soon as fuel prices drop down to 5 cents for a gallon of gasoline again. Judging by today's current trends I wouldn't hold your breath just yet!
