How to make a cat friendlier

a friend of mine just recently got a cat, but the problem is, she's unbelievably unfriendly - she scratches, hisses and does all sort of things to me. so the question is, can we make her more friendly and how?

You should give her time and don't be over her constantly. She needs time to adjust to her new surroundings, especially since she's just arrived. Some cats take a very long time to adjust, so be patient and never force her to be around you all the time, as it will only make her more likely to want to avoid you.

Tasty treats are one of the best ways to earn any animal's trust. Some tuna or a few dry treats can do just that, especially when she's coming to you of her own choice. Have some treats ready so when she comes to you, you can give her a few; this will let her couple being around you with good things. Ensure that you get her some toys to play with as well, so she has something to keep the boredom away.

just try spending time with the cat in the same room as it. don't give it attention if it doesn't want it yet, but just being with it will help the cat get used to you. it'll grow more confidence and will slowly realise you arnt a threat. once it is calmer you could try stroking it and maybe giving it cat treats from your hand. my cat was just like this when we first got him, now he tries to sleep on my face.
