The chickens pick up the gut worms eggs from the grass, soil or excrement which either got there from other chickens or wild birds.
You can worm free range chickens regularly which there are products on the market available as well as if preferred just using the natural worming methods like giving garlic powder.

ANY animal can pick up intestinal parasites... from contaminated feed,soil,bedding......must be INGESTED,so thorough cleaning helps.
ANY animal can be TREATED for such,w/various chemicals depends on species=parasite & host.
Forcing animals to be riddled w/ANY parasite is STUPID/wasteful/abuse/neglect.

Not true! I live on a farm with free range chickens! The eggs are fine!
But if so, they can get worms from eating their poop that decays in the grass....
You can deworm them, I guess.
