My quesions are
1) When the mama bird is feeding the young is the papa bird there with her or is he looking for food?
2) What would be considered it's territory? Which areas of the U.S.?

1.he is usually out hunting constantly until the chicks develop a thick downy coat,and grow a bit bigger..after this both parents wil hunt for the chicks...
the mother has to rip meat off whatever they are eating into size the chicks can fit in their mouths...she also has to block the sun so they do not over heat,and guard against rain,and nest robbers...as they develop the chicks can swallow bigger prey...
2.they are found over all of north America up to the arctic circle,and most of mexico and central america...
