So what ACTUALLY happens in this time travel scenario

If a man from the future comes back to prevent a discovery that leads us to time travel has a successful mission, that means that time travel wasn't invented so this man never came from the future. As that man never came from the future, that means nothing prevented us from discovering Time travel so when we eventually discover it, this would mean the man does indeed come back in time to prevent us from making the discovery and if his mission is a success, that means there is no time travel and he couldn't come back to stop us, so we eventually discover time travel which allows the man to come and prevent it again.

This could LITERALLY be the longest story ever written if I wanted it to be but I think you get the picture.

So what do you think ACTUALLY happens in this time travel scenario?
Do we discover time travel or does the man stop us?
and if the man stops us, then he can't travel back anymore because there isn't any time travel. So is there time travel or not? does he come back or not?

All these idea's can totally bend the brain.
I think it would create a parallel universe time line.
In other words, both scenario's occur.
