but Ill attempt to help.1) I assume that you mean 4.1 x10^4 electrons are removed?Electrons have a charge of -1.6 x10^-19 C(4.2 x10^4) x (-1.......
This question cannot be answered without additional information

5) An object carries a charge of -6.2 µC, while another carries a charge of -2.0 µC. How many electrons must be transferred from the first to the second object so that both objects have the same charge? Number of electrons = ?

Again, thank you so much for any help!

I've got a terrible teacher for this part of my AS Physics aswell, but I'll attempt to help.

1) I assume that you mean 4.1 x10^4 electrons are removed?
Electrons have a charge of -1.6 x10^-19 C
(4.2 x10^4) x (-1.6 x10^-19) = -6.72 x10^-14 C

-6.72 x10^-14 C worth of electrons are removed, leaving the tape with a positive charge of 6.72 x10^-14 C

- You know the charge is positive, as a negative charge was removed.

2) Neutral means that there is no overall charge.
There are the same amount of Protons as there are Electrons in the atoms, as they are not ionised.

As the ball touches the dome, it gains electrons, and as the ball now has a negative charge, it is repelled from the negative dome. The same as magnets with same poles are repelled.

The amount of charge can be found by dividing the overall charge, by the charge of an electron.
-4.7 x 10^-6 / 1.6 x 10^-19 = 2.94 x 10^13 electons.

The electrons where transfered from the generator to the ball. This is shown by the now negative charge of the ball. It gained negatively charged electrons from the generator.

3) Static electricity is caused by electrons rubbing from the comb to the hair. Giving the comb a positive charge.
This positive charge attracts the paper.

4) They attract each other - false
They repel each other - true
They neither attract nor repel each other - false
This question cannot be answered without additional information - false

As A and B attract, they are opposite.
A and C also attract and are both opposite.
Therefore B and C are the same, meaning they repel.

5) µ is micro, and means n x 10^-6

-6.2 + -2.0 = -8.2
-8.2 / 2 = -4.1
4.1 - - 2.0 = 2.1

-2.1 x10^-6 is the charge needed to be transfered to make them both equal.
-2.1 x10^-6 / -1.6 x10^-19 = 1.31 x10^14 electrons.

Hope that I helped, good luck on your assignment.
