48 / 9.81) = 6.......
A wrecking ball is hanging at rest from a crane when suddenly the cable breaks. The time it takes for the ball to fall halfway to the ground is 4.61 s. Find the time it takes for the ball to fall from rest all the way to the ground.

I'm having a brain block right here. Help me out please?

Distance s = 0.5*g*t^2

So halfway to ground = 0.5*9.81*(4.61)^2 m = 104.24m

So distance to ground = 208.48m

Time t = sqrt(2*s / g)

So time to fall 208.48m = sqrt(2*208.48 / 9.81) = 6.52 s
