The moon is 3.8E8 m away from the earth. How long would it take for a laser beam to bounce off the moon and come back to earth?

The distance to the moon and back is 7.6E8 m and the speed of the laser beam will be the speed of light in a vacuum, 3E8 m/s. Therefore it will take 7.6 / 3 = 2.5 s (since the E8 parts cancel).
