What is the point of a transformer with a ratio of 1:1

The two windings are isolated so the secondary can be floated on top of another voltage, or it can be grounded, or whatever you want..-I have to say that it does seem strange. All I can suggest is that the ratio may refer to the total power output.......
For my coursework, there is a transformer in a circuit with only an AC power supply of 20 volts. It has a ratio of 1:1 and the energy is transferred to another circuit. What use or benefits does this have? I really don't understand the point of having it there.

Isolation.

The two windings are isolated so the secondary can be floated on top of another voltage, or it can be grounded, or whatever you want.

I have to say that it does seem strange. All I can suggest is that the ratio may refer to the total power output. In other words the power output may be 1:1 so if you double the voltage, the transformer halves the current. I know that's not quite true with an AC power supply, but I think you get my drift.

Sorry, that's the best I can come up with.
