This is the question:
Factor:
y^4(y + 2)^3 + y^5(y + 2)^4
This was the answer I was given:
y^4*(y+1)^2*(y+2)^3
I don't understand how it ended up there

Make a small change
y + 2 = A
=> y^4A^3 + y^5A^4
Can you get it NOW?
y + 2 = A
=> y^4A^3 + y^5A^4
Can you get it NOW?

I was hoping you'd see how to do the rest, and what was common between the two terms. We don't want to *do* people's work for them without tying to get them to think. At least you did get the problem done, and thanks, but if what I did wasn't helpful you shouldn't choose it as best, but thanks.
