This is a sleeping disorder called "Exploding Head Syndrome"
Its characterized by the victim waking up to a loud bang that seems to be coming from within the persons head. There is no pain, or anything like that, even though the name seems to imply pain. How do you know that you hear a bang? Maybe it's just a recurring dream. Or, maybe your grandma is a light sleeper.
My guess? Every night your AC shuts off at the same time, causing a closed door to sake a little. Completely normal. Your woken up by this. Maybe in a dream state you feel it's much louder. Your grandma doesn't wake up because she's older and used to this kind of thing, or, like I said, your dream is making it louder.
Sorry, but I don't believe in ghosts.
