I was only on 60mg of Pred for 3 days for a bad allergic reaction to laundry detergent. The first day I came off it, I had an anxiety attack and they put me right back on the Prednisone only this time, prescribed it for 40mg a day for 5 days. I ended up going back to the doctor's because my infection is now long gone and the Prednisone was dealing more of a miserable feeling than making me feel betteR. They checked me out and told me to stop the Pred because I was only on it for a total of 6 days and at such a low dose. I am now on my third day without taking Prednisone but I was wondering how long will it take for the side effects to go away? I wasn't on it for weeks or months at a time so I would think it wouldn't be a long sufferable recovery? I know the heat and humidity haven't helped me feel better either...I've been drinking more than 'plenty' amounts of water and gatorade, as well.
Also, I know everyone reacts differently when they come off different meds and such. Any kind and not so much anxiety-filled advice would be very much appreciated! I'm sick of feeling like I burnt my tongue, too, so annoying!

If you take pred more than 5 days usually you ween off of it. 5 days is the cutoff usually The way to ween is dependant on the number of days you need it for. For example, if you need to take it for 8 days in total, you might start with 60mg for 8 days then do 2 days of 30mg and one day of 15.
6 days is iffy, you shouldn't need a ween for 6 days, but 60mg is hardly a low dose. A low dose of pred is 20/25 region.
That said, it's easy to blame the Pred. By now the Pred is out of your system. It's half life is not very long. You had an allergic reaction, the way your body is behaving may be due to that rather than the pred. If you had an anaphylactic reaction where your throat closed and there was difficulty breathing, its possible you strained muscles in your throat that make it feel like you have a lump in it or are being strangled. Its possible you're anxious because of the allergic reaction as well. Its confusing and scary to find out you have a serious allergy, anxiety is common in people with allergic reactions.
Try deep breathing exercises. Google mindfulness technique. Try doing things to distract when you notice youre feeling anxious. And above all else avoid stimulants for the time being. That includes soda, coffee, tea or anything that has caffeine
