I have the flu and one question about it.

until one gets an idea how well your body is coping with that flu. and the fever.) (of course unless the fever soars, in that case, keep a closer watch, then take the temp at every 3-4 intervals,......
Yesterday I caught the flu and over the coarse of six hours from 2am through 8am I have taken a large dose of pills and I wanted o know if that was right to do.
2am: ibuprofen 200mg
6am:Tylenol cold and flu 15ml
And know I hqve to take 2 advil liquid gel tablets
Plus I also took antibiotics and to add to that I'm only 14.
The reason I'm taking so much is because I have a steady 101 fever and it won't go up or down. What should I take? Or should I wait a little bit to take the next dose. It's not up to me, it's up to my mom and I'm sick and tired of the pills.

Actually, if I were your mother I'd still call a competent doctor's office. It dose seem, from what your are relaying here: "you are getting a bit too much", one can never know where exactly the fever is going, "up or down", if it is masked too heavily...The body should be the "detector" then take a temperature often, keep that thermometer close by; and given the chance, your body will decipher where it's at. Let it have a chance to work on it's own. Over dosing can hide the natural way a body dose it's job. I believe if a steady dose of fever medicine were given say: every 4,-5, or even 6 hrs.*(keep taking temps) that should be sufficient, until one gets an "idea how well your body is coping with that flu. and the fever.) (of course unless the fever "soars", in that case, keep a closer watch, then take the temp at every 3-4 intervals, usually the fever medications subside approx. after the 3-4 hrs.after taken them. so, just to get an approximate reading, take it often too. If it goes higher, *(of course call a doctor immediately), keep a pen & paper near by as the doctor needs a reading when he's consulted. He may even know your system from childhood? Many fevers are indicative of oncoming secondary infections, he's privy to that too. So it's imperative to keep a close watch & notes. If the flu; there seems to be the general rule of thumb, fluids, rest, and stay close to your home, bed, and/or anyone helping you out..Moms do know a lot...Your familiar with your system, also so,take notes to relay to your care-keeper, *(if you are lucky enough to have one).. Play it by ear, taking a fever medication, if possible, but do as your physician says.. Do not overdose..ever! .Read all labels carefully, no matter who is giving it to you. Take charge of your body, any one over 12-14, should be more aware as I've pointed out above...in my book! Be informed, "it is your body". Occasionally a person may be so sick, they can not make decisions, so keep in touch with the office, as I'm sure they will remind you. i Remembering usually any fever over 101 is enough to "call a physician," and he may even have his nurse handle the call, or have you come in for a quick look himself. Keep notes, be alert, if possible and don't worry too much! We all get these flues and they are a real "pain int the neck"!
