The properties of water are unique among common substances because
A. It's molecules in liquid state are not moving faster than in solid state.
B. It's molecules in the liquid state are more closely packed than those in solid state.
C. It's molecules in gaseous state are not colliding with each other at all.
D. It's molecules in gaseous state have decreasing kinetic energy before striking the wall of the container.

H2O has a special property whereby its solid state (ice) is less dense than its liquid state because of the special structure of H2O molecules in its solid state

I agree with th 2nd responder. Water molecules in their crystalline form (ice) form a lattice structure with a lot of empty space between molecules. Only a small handful of molecules have the property of having its solid form being less dense than the liquid form.
