Turning Point Quadratic Help.

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 13-04-21] [Hit: ]
Thank you.the turning point is (-3/4 ,......
The function is 2x^2 + 3x + 1.
Using a turning point formula (x=-b/2a)
x=-3/4 (For the turning point)

So when "x = -3/4" in "y = 2x^2 + 3x + 1", apparently "y" is supposed to be -1/8
..So how the hell does anyone get that?
It doesn't make sense, I've tried it every way I can.
Please explain it to me.
Thank you.

substitute x = -3/4 in equation for y

y = 2(-3/4)^2 + 3(-3/4) + 1
y = 2(9/16) - 9/4 + 1
y = 9/8 - 18/8 + 8/8
y = 17/8 - 18/8

y = -1/8

the turning point is (-3/4 , -1/8)
