A series ac circuit contains a 150 ohm resistor, a 20 mH inductor, a 4.50 micro-farad capacitor, and an ac power source of voltage amplitude 45.0 V operating at an angular frequency of 360 rad/s.

What is the power factor of this circuit?

I am getting 0.97 & it is incorrect.
I just did
Cos(150/((150^2 + (360*29*10^(-3) - 1/(360*4.5*10^(-6)))^2)

** The PF of the circuit is 0.238 Leading

Explained:
蠅 = 360 rad/s
X薀 = 蠅L = 360 x 20 x 10藟鲁 = 7.2惟

Xc = 1 / 蠅C = 1 / (360 x 4.5 x 10藟 鈦?) = 617.28惟

Z
= 鈭?[ R虏 + ( X薀 - Xc)虏]
= 鈭?[ 150虏 + ( 7.2 - 617.28)虏]
= 628.25惟

Power Factor for Series circuit = R/Z = 150 / 628.25 = 0.238 = ANSWER
As Xc exceeds X薀 the pf is Leading.

Has this helped?
