Why is the ocean so salty

Why?

All surface water and all groundwater eventually reach the ocean. All freshwater streams have some salt and mineral ions, as the water flows, it decomposes and erodes rock gaining more salt and mineral ions. Since pretty much all surface and groundwater ends up in the ocean, it carries it's salt and mineral ions with it. The ocean receives the salt and mineral ions of all surface runoff and most groundwater, meaning the ocean has a much higher salt concentration than other bodies of water on earth. Underwater volcanic activity, such as hydrothermal vents also add salt and mineral ions to the ocean. You might get a lot of answers saying the ocean is salty due to whale sperm, but that is a myth.
