86,= 8,92,80,Actually it takes approx 8m20secs and dist = 9,30,......
Calculate the distance of sun from earth if light takes 8 min to reach earth from the surface of sun.show the steps.

-
The speed of light is a constant and is taken to be 3*10^8 m/s
Now
Distance = speed * time
So 8 minutes is 8*60=480 seconds
Hence the distance of the sun from earth is
3*480*10^8 m
= 1440*10^8
1.44*10^8 km

-
= speed of light x (8 x 60 sec)
=1,86,000 mile x 480
= 8,92,80,000 miles

Actually it takes approx 8m20secs and dist = 9,30,00,000miles.

For accurate distance, use speed metres.
