you can simply divide 2/6 is 1/3,That is how we ended up with (1 - 1√37)/3-there is a common factor of 2 in the numerator and denominator...obvious !(1-√37)/3-divide the top and bottom by 2 to get.......
How does

2-2√37
_______
6

simplify to

1-√37
______
3

I don't understand, please help!

-
Kinda easy

In (2 - 2√37)/6 ,you can see that there are common factor in the numerator and denominator which is 2:
= (2 - ((2)(√37)))/6

So, you can simply divide 2/6 is 1/3, applicable to both terms in the numerator:
= (1 - 1√37)/3

That is how we ended up with (1 - 1√37)/3

there is a common factor of " 2 " in the numerator and denominator...obvious !

2 - 2√37 = 2(1 - √37)

6 = 2 * 3

-
the 2's in the numerator factor out

2-2√37
2(1-√37)

then 2/6 reduces
leaving

(1-√37)/3

-
divide the top and bottom by 2 to get...
(2-2√37)/2
_______
6/2

this turns into

1-√37
______
3

i agree it doesn't!
If you stick them in a calculator you find out the answers are different.
