......
d+5 / 3 - d-1 / 9 = 0

/ is suppose to be fraction.

-
common denominator = 9

so 3(d+5)/9 - -1(d-1)/9=0

3d+15/9 - d+1/9 = 0

so 2d+16/9 = 0

time boths sides by 9 to get rid of denimator

2d+16 = 0

2d = -16
d= -8

-
5/3-1/9+d-d=0
well the d's cancel so we are left with 5/3-1/9=0.
Now thats not true. So why not you go and put some parenthesis in that equation.

-
Ii'm guessing you mean (d + 5)/3 - (d - 1)/9 = 0

(d + 5)/3 = (d - 1)/9
3(d + 5) = d - 1
3d + 15 = d - 1
2d = -16
d = -8
