.= x - x^3 /6 + x^5 /120 - + ...-Its not its an approximation. If you keep doing the series infinitely then itll be equal.......
hi my question is as above, sin x = x - (x^2/3)
It was change this way in a maclaurin's series question i was doing according to the answer sheet
from ln (1+x) = ln(1 + (x - x^2/3) )

It looks like a mistake.
It's not even a proper approximation for sin x, which has only odd powers of x (cause it's an odd function, for cryin' out loud!):

sin x = x - x^3 /3! + x^5 /5! - + ...
= x - x^3 /6 + x^5 /120 - + ...

It's not it's an approximation. If you keep doing the series infinitely then it'll be equal.
