I need to find the determinant of a matrix that includes some variables in it. When I try to enter "x" in the matrix, it just goes in as "0". Is there anyway I can put x in a matrix on the graphing calculator?

No, unfortunately. The TI-84/84/Plus/SE calculators can only return numeric answers, so no solving things with variables in that. If you want that, you'll have to get a calculator with a computer algebra system, like the TI-89 or TI-Nspire CAS.
