2+9^1/2 = 2+(9)^(1/2) = 2+{(3^2)^(1/2)} = 2+3^1 = 2+3 = 5.
In isolation there is no difference between 6+3-2 and "6+3-2", but if it occurs before or after mathematical operation it may make a difference. For example
"6+3-2"*3 will mean 7*3 21 but
6+3-2*3 may mean 6+3-6 = 3.
