Can you please complete the square for this equation:
f(x)= x^2-5x+2
f(x)= x^2-5x+2
-
Answer: x= Plus or minus the square root of 4.25 plus 2.5
x^2 -5x+2 =0
Minus 2 from both sides
To get the term to complete the square you divide the middle term by 2 and then square it
x^2 -5x +6.25 = -2 + 6.25
Factor it
(x-2.5)^2 - 4.25
and i think u can finish from there... square root it and then add the 2.5
x^2 -5x+2 =0
Minus 2 from both sides

_____________________
f(x) = x² - 5x + 2
f(x) = x² - 5x + (-5/2)² - (-5/2)² + 2 ← Notice that (-5/2)² - (-5/2)² = 0
f(x) = (x - 5/2)² - (25/4) + 8/4
f(x) = (x - 5/2)² - 17/4
Hope that is what you are looking for.

I don't think that is the whole problem... You told us what a function for X was, but you never included X. You can solve by substituting whatever x equals into the X spots in this function.
