I need a little help with this problem...
If lim x->1 (f(x)-8)/(x-1)=10, find lim x->1 f(x)
The answer is 8 according to the back of the book, but I have no clue how to arrive at that number. Please help.

(f(x)-8)/(x-1)=10
(f(x)-8)=(x-1)10
(f(x)-8)=10x-10
f(x)=10x-2
Plug in 1
f(x)=10(1)-2
f(x)=8
(f(x)-8)=(x-1)10
(f(x)-8)=10x-10
f(x)=10x-2
Plug in 1
f(x)=10(1)-2
f(x)=8
