That equals 191 km.191km/2 hours = 95.5 average velocity.Since velocity is the derivative of position,95.95.......
Driving to their cottage, the Smiths travelled 85km in the first hour. After 3 hours of continuous driving they completed the trip, having travelled a total distance of 276km.

Determine the average rate of change of distacne with respect to time during the last two hours.

1st hour = 85 km/h

Total hours driven = 3
Since we are only looking at the last two hours:
3 - 1 = 2

They traveled 276 km throughout the whole trip.
276 - 85 = Distance Traveled over the last two hours

That equals 191 km.

191km/2 hours = 95.5 average velocity.

Since velocity is the derivative of position, that makes it the rate of change for the position function:
d = r * t

-
(276 - 85) / 2 =>
191 / 2 =>
95.5

95.5 km/h
