I'm revising for my math exam and I just can't get how to do this question.
'Tara buys x rulers at 25 pence each and y biros at 70 pence each.
Write down an expression for the total cost of the rulers and biros'
I've started off writing x rulers + y biros = 95 pence but I'm sure that's not right and I don't get how to write it as an expression. In the answer part it says '........ pence' so I know it has to be something pence but I don't know what to do. Any help please?

total cost = 0.25x+0.70y
