250e^0.05x=500,000 solve algebraically

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-05-10] [Hit: ]
x = 500000/(250*e^(0.05)) = 2000/e^(0.05) ≅ 2000/1.05127 ≅ 1902.......
show steps please

Step 1: Divide by 250: e^.05x=2000

Step 2: Take Natural Log: .05x=Ln(2000)

Step 3: Divide by .05: x = Ln(2000)/.05

Step 4: Plug into calculator: x = 152.018

Sorry I came back to check on this. The guy below me is unfortunately incorrect. You cannot separate exponents the way he did. You need to use logarithms or in your case natural logarithms since you are dealing with Euler's number.

Well, since you didn't include any parentheses, order of operations applies.

250*e^(0.05)*x = 500000

x = 500000/(250*e^(0.05)) = 2000/e^(0.05) ≅ 2000/1.05127 ≅ 1902.45885
