Im trying to review this quadratic equation but I can't remember how to handle the single parenthesis. Anyone? I have the best math teacher but class time is shoooort! Thanks yahoo")

4x=0 or 2x-5=0
x=0 or x=5/2
x=0 or x=5/2

I'm answering as if you're solving for x, because I'm not sure what you mean by 'reviewing' this quadratic..
All you have to do is separate the two parts of 4x and (2x-5)
You split them into separate equations like this:
4x=0
and
2x-5=0
Now solve for x in both equations, which would be x=0 and x=5/2
The reason we do this is because since you're multiplying the two terms, if even one of those equals 0, the whole thing equals zero
For example, if x= 5/2, we would plug 5/2 into the equation and get:
4(5/2)(2(5/2-5)=0
which simplifies into
10(0) which equals zero
Get what I'm trying to say?
**WARNING**
This won't work if you're adding the two terms!!

The single parenthesis make the problem much easier!
Since the product of 4x and (2x-5) equal zero then either 4x or (2x-5) must be 0.
Therefore:
4x=0
x=0
or
2x-5=0
2x=5
x=5/2 or 2,5
Much easier than expanding and then using quadratic equation.

ok basically you got the answer already...
4x(2x-5) = 0
4x = 0 OR 2x-5 = 0
x = 0 OR x = 5/2
even multiplying inside and simplify to get
x(2x-5) = 0
the answer is still the same...
hope this helps...
4x(2x-5) = 0
4x = 0 OR 2x-5 = 0
x = 0 OR x = 5/2
even multiplying inside and simplify to get
x(2x-5) = 0
the answer is still the same...

4x times the binomial 2x -5 is 0. So, either 4x is 0 [x = 0] or 2x - 5 is 0 [ x = 2.5]

Ok there are two answers,
first, 4x = 0 and 2x -5 = 0
x= 0, and 2x=5 or x= 5/2
Hope this helps...

x= 0, and 2x=5 or x= 5/2

you want the left side to equal 0 so
4x=0 or 2x-5=0
x=0,5/2
4x=0 or 2x-5=0
x=0,5/2
