If scientists are so clever why cant they make replica suns as a power supply.?

-------------------------------------------------------

answers:
Tom S say: We already have a real one, which puts out more than enough power for us.
-
Atarah Derek say: They can and do. It's called nuclear power.
-
oikoσ say: It's sort of like creating the universal solvent. What do you keep it in?
-
Zirp say: Because they would need an amount of hydrogen equal to a million times the mass of the earth.

We don't have that lying around within several lightyears
-
YYYZZ 2 say: They can. Called atomic bombs. Very bad for the environment.
Peace
-
say: Really?

Stars are balls of gas.

Picture an aerosol can. The gas trapped inside gets displaced by air as you press the button. That's what happens to gas... it disperses and dissipates; it does NOT condense.

The scientific model that says gravity brought the gasses together does not work: and the science community grudgingly admits this. Gravity is much too weak a force to cause gasses to form into a gas ball (a star).

Scientists don't know how stars were formed, so how could they make one?

You're silly.

No Kenny, they have not.
Every model they use relies on PRE-EXISTING stars.
-
nineteenthly say: Because it would take many thousands of times as much material as the entire planet and also millions of years before it was effective.
-
busterwasmycat say: the concept is not an unknown. It is a technological issue not a science issue. The fault of the engineers, then. Blame them.
-
Brian say: Perhaps you should read up on fusion.
-
Greg say: You mean nuclear power? Ummmmmm they have.
-
roger say: fusion power is hard to do. The sun does it with a very strong gravity to push the Atoms of hydrogen together.
The can make hydrogen fuse but it takes more energy to do that than they get out of the reaction.
-
Steven say: Easy. Just put 300,000 Earth size planets together and you get a sun. Maybe you didn't understand the sun is pretty big?
-
Bill-M say: That is Called FUSION Power. They are working on it.
-
poldi2 say: They don't have the funding - all the money goes to Homeland Security and Trump's legal defences.
-
..... say: Why do you assume that scientists are clever?
-
In say: Fusion bombs (H bombs) require a fission bomb (A bomb) at its core to start the reaction. There is no way to contain such a huge explosion. Research into sustainable Fusion reactions continues primarily at CERN but we are probably at least 30 years away from achieving that goal.
-
Logan say: That is exactly how a hydrogen bomb works. Development of fusion power plants has proven more difficult but research continues and is expected to eventually lead to a better solution than the current nuclear fission power plants.
-
Lunchlumps say: They can they just don't wanna
