Now that I got your attention...
When will the world's demand for oil exceed it's production? When will major conflicts and troubles erupt due to oil distribution not meeting a particular countries needs? Will scientists discover a newer means of energy more efficient than oil? Or will we turn out like post-apocalyptic, oil hoarding mongoloids in Mad Max 2? Thanks.

hahaha great question.
What most non-geologists/petroleum engineers don't know is that there are a s*** load of oil reserves on the planet. In fact possibly the biggest one on the planet exists under the mediterranian sea, under a massive salt dome. This is quite a new discovery, as geophysical methods have only just gotten to the point of being able to see these reservoirs through salt. It is literally just a matter of finding them and having the technology to do so is all.
However, there is definitely research into new technologies as far as i'm aware because of all the attention global warming has gotten (even though its actually a natural process... its just been slightly accelerated by mankind), as well as wanting to travel further into space and all that jazz. But we tend to pull **** out of our *** when were in trouble. for example if we have an assignment due at the last minute we can write one damn good essay... so when the time comes and oil is actually running out some one will jump up and say they've found the answer

I don't know when it will. But when it does, you shure better have a way to get around and you sure better know how to grow food. think about it, food goes to stores, and there needs to be gas for the trucks to drive the food there. I just hope that there will be another way of greener transportation when we run out. And there might be riots and raids so have a weapon or two. Goodluck to everyone when it happens!

Eventually, we will run out of resources. Whether it's oil, oxygen or the sun simply growing too old to support life.
It's up to people, such as yourself, to figure out how we'll cope...or we'll die.
