The density of Aliminum is 2.70 g/cm^3
Determine the thickness (in cm) of a rectangular piece of aluminum foil that is 17.0 inches long and 3.0 inches wide, with a mass of 2.21 gram.
I dont know how to set up this formula. Is thickness considered density? Please help.

Just remember...LOVE! Take a look at this heart sideways, right side up <3...kind of crude, but you may notice that it kind of looks like an "m" over a "v"...that's because density is mass over volume (love is just a surprisingly helpful way of remembering it.
So, if we know that volume is l*w*h, and we just need the height, we can set it up as:
2.70=(17.0*3.0*h)/2.21
Solve for h and you are good to go!

density = mass / volume. go from there.

2.21g/2.70g/cm^3 = 0.819 cm3 ====how big the sample is
but sample is T (in cm) * 17.0 in * 3.0 in * (2.54 cm/in)^ = T*329 cm3
T = 0.819/329 = 2.49 * 10^-3 cm
