Find the intercept of its graph?
5x+3y=15

-
5x+3y=15

To find the x-intercept, substitute in 0 for y and solve for x.
5x+3(0)=15

Multiply 3 by each term inside the parentheses.
5x+0=15

Remove the 0 from the polynomial; adding or subtracting 0 does not change the value of the expression.
5x=15

Divide each term in the equation by 5.
(5x)/(5)=(15)/(5)

Simplify the left-hand side of the equation by canceling the common factors.
x=(15)/(5)

Simplify the right-hand side of the equation by simplifying each term.
x=3

To find the y-intercept, substitute in 0 for x and solve for y.
5(0)+3y=15

Multiply 5 by each term inside the parentheses.
0+3y=15

Combine all similar expressions.
3y=15

Divide each term in the equation by 3.
(3y)/(3)=(15)/(3)

Simplify the left-hand side of the equation by canceling the common factors.
y=(15)/(3)

Solve the equation.
y=5

These are the x and y intercepts of the equation 5x+3y=15.
x=3, y=5

ok so where is the x intercept? when y=0
so if u go to any intercept, its always (x,0)

so u know the intercept is when y=0, set y to 0.

u will be left with 5x=15.

therefore x=3. the intercept is at (3,0)

to find the y intercept, simply move 5x to the other side. 3y= -5x+15
then to remove the co-efficient in front of y. y= -5/3x +5

therefore the y-intercept is at (0,5)

-
put into slope-intercept form: y = mx+b

5x + 3y = 15

3y = -5x + 15

3y/3 = -5x/3 + 15/3

y = -5/3x + 5

y-intercept occurs when x = 0, so sub that in and solve for y

y = -5/3(0) + 5

y = 5

THEREFORE the y-intercept is (0, 5).

x-intercept occurs when y = 0, so sub that in and solve for x

0 = -5/3(x) + 5

-5 = -5/3(x)

-5(-3/5) = x

x = 15/5

x = 3

THEREFORE the x-intercept is (3, 0)
