I don't know if it's just me or if they're supposed to have a gassy smell and probably a taste to it. I got some ice from the freezer and put it in a glass of water and as I was about to drink I realised that it had a garlic kind of smell to it.
Are they supposed to smell like that?

Depends on your water. You can have a funny smell to your water and ice cubes if you have sulfur or well water. Also if there is a lot different food smells and or bad food in your frig or freezer your ice cube and absorb the smells and tastes. Best thing to do is clean out both the frig and freezer and put some baking soda boxes in each. Baking soda absorbs the floating smells and tastes that will be lingering.
FYI you ice cubes pick up the extra because of the H2O molecules having a free "connector" to make bonds ;)

Well yes and no. I experienced something similar to what you are saying. I think there are these chemicals inside the freezer or something because my ice sometimes is bitter or something like that when I leave it uncovered. But I figured if you cover it up with like tin foil or something it usually gets rid of the nasty taste/smell. Try it and see if it works. I usually just put like a plastic water bottle in the freezer capped and it smells/tastes fine! :)

Umm, no actually.
