Please help and consider my problem. Thank you-Find the solutions to f(x)=0 and then evaluate f(x) for those solutions. Those are the y values or function values..The maximum is the critical point with the largest y value. Dont forget there can also be other types of critical points.......
In the given question we have to find the points local max. And local min. And corresponding local max. And min values. Ques:- f(x)= x+a^2/x,a>0. I was able to find local max. And min. Point but unable to find its values. Please help and consider my problem. Thank you

Find the solutions to f'(x)=0 and then evaluate f(x) for those solutions. Those are the y values or function values..
The maximum is the critical point with the largest y value. Don't forget there can also be other types of critical points.

Differentiate and u will get

1-a^2/x^2=0

so x = +-a

Put x as +_a

a + a = 2a

-a-a = -2a
