1)During the winter, it is often necessary to add air to a car's tires to maintain the proper tire inflation. Why is more air needed? Give an explanation using the particle theory.
2) Explain how you might produce fireworks that emit green light. Explain what causes the colour to be produced.
3) Would it be possible to give an electrically neutral object a positive charge by adding one or more portons to it? Explain.

1) During winter the temperature outside decreases. As temperature decreases in the car tyres the motion of the molecules in the gas inside them slows down because they have less energy. If they slow down the molecules collide with the inside of the tyre less often and so the pressure inside the tyre decreases. You need to add more air because as a result of the above the tyre deflates slightly.
2)To make a green flame you need to have something containing copper inside it. The copper absorbs energy during the explosion of the firework and this causes electrons in its outer shell to jump from a low energy level to a higher energy level. When at the higher level it is unstable and so drops back to the lower level again. When it does so it re-releases the energy it absorbed as light. The light happens to have an amount of energy corresponding to green light. Hence we see green.
3)Yes you could because protons are positive. It should be worth mentioning that it isn't common to find free protons at room temperature outside of solution (solution just means dissolved in water). Most protons will be bound to a nucleus. So yes it will cause a neutral object to become positive but only in solution or extreme temperatures like in the sun or a plasma. Feel free to use as much of that as you need, I've probably given more than required but what you need to know is protons are positive.
