How many grams of NaCl are needed to make a w/v solution using deionized water

w/v percentages are determined as weight in grams per 100mL of solvent. So you are correct in saying that 40g / 100mL of solvent would give you a 40% solution.......
I'm doing math for my chem lab, and I got the question:
How many grams of NaCl would be needed to make 40% w/v solution using deionized water as the solvent?

Similar questions said nothing about the solvent, so I'd assume it would be 40g dissolved in 100mL. I just don't know if using deionized water would necessarily change the answer I should get.

Deionized water shouldn't change your answer. If anything, it will be easier for the NaCl to dissolve because it won't be competing against other ions for solubility.

w/v percentages are determined as weight in grams per 100mL of solvent. So you are correct in saying that 40g / 100mL of solvent would give you a 40% solution.
