hybridization is the process of mixing of atomic orbitals of nearly same energies to form equal no. of hybridized orbitals which are more reactive then atomic orbitals.
but if the difference of energy of the atomic orbitals is very large, hybridization is not possible.
In that conditions other types of bonds like ionic bonds, co-ordinate bonds are formed according to energies and requirements.
and after the process of hybridization mainly covalent bonds are formed..
