Hello,
As you already have, the formula is Ca(NO3)2.
The elements in calcium nitrate are calcium (Ca), nitrogen (N), and oxygen (O).
To find out the number of each, we see if there are any subscripts next to their elemental symbols. Ca does not have a subscript, so there is only one. Nitrogen is combined with oxygen with a subscript of 2. This subscript is distributed across the parentheses and makes 2 nitrogens. The O already has a 3, and since it is being multiplied by 2 with the additional subscript, there are 6 oxygens.
Ca = 1, N = 2, O = 6 <<
