During an experiment, two solid compounds burn in the presence of oxygen. Can you conclude that they are the same compound? Why or why not?

No, you cannot conclude that they are the same compound. Many compounds and or elements are readily oxidized by oxygen in the air. For example, the two compounds could both be hydrocarbons, but with differing amounts of carbon and hydrogen. Burning two compounds is not enough to indicate that they are the same.
