but does it still float? Also if it does still float, how do i know how much to fill the balloon if it will hardly expand while filling??-in principle yes it will float. even at this temperature helium and hydrogen are lighter than air.......
Im trying to launch a weather balloon next month. However i live in chicago so the temperature is around 30 degrees of so right now. i know that whenever i take a helium balloon out in the cold it shrinks...but does it still float? Also if it does still float, how do i know how much to fill the balloon if it will hardly expand while filling??

in principle yes it will float. even at this temperature helium and hydrogen are lighter than air. don't forget that air is cold too.

the fact remains that the balloon should be inflated enough to be able to carry the weight. if the weight is high inflation should be more
