its supposed to be [Ar] 4s2 3d6
i understand the 3d comes after the 4. BUT why is it distributed like this? like how its goes into the 4s2 instead of 4p6 ?

Because your s subshells are lower in energy than your p subshells.

that website will explain it with a pict of the periodic table, its easy to understand it :)

{Ar} 4s2, 3d6
Find the correct by following the or of the atomic numbers. The electrons do not fill their orbitals in a nice easy series
I will start you off. 1s2, 2s2, 2p6, 3s2, 3p6, 4s2, 3d10, 4p6, 5s2, 4d10, 5p6 , etc.
