there are 3 calcium ions each with +2 charge for a total of +6.Also there are 2 phosphate ions each with a charge of -3 for a totalof -6. So the +6 and -6 add up to zero.Happy Studies.......
Im really confused about the whole concept in general

If you could help explain it and how the charge is equal to zero, cations and anions, and how you need to mulyiply ions to add together.

please just summarise in your best words it will help me alot!
Test tmw!
Thank you

Lets write the formula for calcium phosphate

S-Write the symbol for the ions involved Ca PO4

V- Write the valencies at the top right corner of the symbols Ca2 PO4 3

C- Cross the valencies from one symbol to the other AND

R- Rewrite the valencies at the lower right hand side of the symbols Ca3 PO4 2

Within the complete formula the total negative and positive charges should add up to zero.
In the case of calcium phosphate, there are 3 calcium ions each with +2 charge for a total of +6.
Also there are 2 phosphate ions each with a charge of -3 for a total of -6. So the +6 and -6 add up to zero.
Happy Studies.
