We share a vast number of common morphologies to monkeys because both humans and monkeys share a common ancestor. Monkeys still exist because they are a successful adaptation to their biological niche.

We do look like monkey's and even more like apes (tailess primates), of which we have a closer relationship. Characteristics of primates are forward facing eyes, large brain (proportionally), smaller nose and there are heaps of other thigns that you can look up online.

If you look at a juvenile chimp there is a lot more similarities with humans than the adults. This is thought to be a feature that has occurred in our ancestors, where we have retained more of the juvenile features through to being an adult.

It is nice to know that ignorance in the world exists despite the leaps made by humanity. i will make 2 points to you.

1. No evolutionist said that humans came from monkeys. What we do say is that humans evolved from ancestral apes. We still are apes by the way. The classification of apes we belong to is called "great apes".
2. Even if we did evolve from monkeys, it would still be unsurprising that they exist. If a population is divided to different locations so that cannot interbreed, they evolve separately.
