Yes it can be hard to loose weight depending on your situation.

Some people have thyroid problems which can slow down or speed up your metabolism. My father for instance has a super metabolism, he can eat and eat and loose the weight easily, while my metabolism burns calories slower making me retain the weight easily.

Some people simply have to go to extremes to lose any weight. There are many different body types. The idea is to find a "lifestyle" that works for you. The reason I say lifestyle is because diet's simply don't work for all people. You have to find the correct lifestyle for you, eat to live, don't live to eat.

Your most important tool is your brain, your brain says "I need calories to live" but some peoples brains stop signaling I'm full too soon, while others signal way to late after the person has consumed too many calories which cause that person to gain weight.

The idea is to find a "happy medium" for instance, if you want a sandwich, try eating only 1/2 of the sandwich while you put the rest of the sandwich away for later, if you still feel hungry after 30 minutes take a few more bites or have a small low calorie snack with lots of fiber, like baby carrots or whatever. The idea is to give your stomach time to register that you are FULL or CONTENT.

Humans by nature are grazers, scavengers, hoarders. Our bodies are programmed to eat as much as possible in one meal because in ancient times people didn't know when they would eat next. So the body tries to store those excess calories as fat which of course has it's own host of health issues.

So if you want a little candy, have a piece or two, but always make sure you physically remove the remaining candy or else you will revert back to the grazing, scavenging mode.

The opposite can be true, if you always have food available (small snacks throughout the day) your metabolism should see those food sources and adjust accordingly, but always try to follow the 1/2 rule, always wait at least 30 minutes before consuming additional food to give your body time to produce Leptin which suppresses hunger, and makes you feel full or content.

It is far better to be "content" than full, when you feel full your metabolism will slow down reducing the calories burned and allows your body to store those calories, but if you feel "Content" then your body says OK, I can burn the calories I just consumed. Calories IN should always be just-enough to keep you from being hungry!

I am losing weight at the moment and finding it pretty easy to be honest ! But i have been told to lose weight due to a poor liver function which is sort of extra motivation.
But i think if you really want or need to lose weight then the motivation should make it bearable.

No. It's easy more or less. Exercise more, eat less. What's hard is being motivated. Getting a diet plan and an exercise schedule and sticking to it. Drinking extra water seems to help too.
