I mean I has never seen them so how can they be proven

Have you ever met the prime minister of Australia? No? Then how can you possibly believe he is real?

Have you ever seen a spy satellite? No? Then how can you possibly believe they are real?

Have you ever seen a hammerhead shark? No? Then how can you possibly believe they are real?

Have you ever seen a _______________ [insert name of anything you have not personally seen with your own eyes] No? Then how can you possibly believe it is real?


For something to be proven, it is not required that YOU see it. The fact that lots of other people have seen them, photographed them, compared the photographs and found them to be the same, etc, is proof. Tangible, repeatable evidence. That is actually how it works.


On the other hand, if you do not experience something directly, how can you be sure it is real... from a philosophical viewpoint? maybe everything except what you personally experience is imaginary. Maybe even the things you DO experience are an illusion. But that kind of answer belongs elsewhere than the Biology section.
