1. Use the key to classify each of the following described tissue types into one of the four major tissue categories

Potential Matches:
1 : epithelium
2 : connective tissue
3 : nervous tissue
4 : muscle tissue
Answer
: Tissue type composed largely of nonliving extracellular matrix; important in protection and support
: The tissue immediately responsible for body movement
: The tissue that enables us to be aware of the external environment and to react to it
: The tissue that lines body cavities and covers surfaces

Match the epithelial types named with the appropriate description in column.

Potential Matches:
1 : pseudostratified ciliated columnar
2 : simple squamous
3 : stratified squamous
4 : transitional
5 : simple columnar
Answer
: Lines most of the digestive tract
: Lines the esophagus
: Lines much of the respiratory tract
: Forms the walls of the air sacs of the lungs
: Found in urinary tract organs

It helps to think of the structure and function asked for.
1. Mostly non-living, protective and structural tissue..with your choices, what does that sound most like? Nervous, muscle and epithelial tissues are all composed of living cells. Connective tissue, on the other hand, is composed of mainly keratin, a structural protein that also makes up hair and nails. That's your answer for the first part.
2. This one should be easy. Which type of tissue moves your limbs and the rest of your body? It can only be muscular.
3. The key to this one is 'react'. What type of tissue informs us of what's going on outside the body (by our senses) and enables us to react if we have to? Has to me nervous tissue.
4. Epithelial tissue's entire purpose is to line and protect cavities open to the outside and to cover us with our skin, so..that's your answer.

This next one is more specialized, so more tricky. We have to choose the type of epithelial tissues involved.
1. Simple columnar tissue lines most of our digestive tract.
2. Stratified squamous tissue lines the esophagus.
3. Pseudostratified ciliated columnar tissue lines most of the respiratory tract, with the cilia beating upwards and away from the lungs to propel 'nasties' away from the lungs.
4. Simple sqamous tissue, one cell thick, lines the alveoli or air sacs of the lungs. It has to be thin to allow for diffusion of gases.
5.Transitional epithelium lines the urinary tract

Because i was a student who took A&P and many other science classes, i know for a fact that you can EASILY find these answers in your textbook, or by doing a quick search online.
