Because everytime there's proof, it can be faked, and it's hard to tell what's real or not. Find fossils of early humans? They will ask, 'Are the bones real?' and you won't be able to answer that.
They also can't see it happing, or maybe they just don't want the controversy of having an opinion against the rest of the county.

I think it's the opposite. I don't know where you've made these observations but they're not true from my experience.
