antibiotics break apart the structural components of the cell wall at the weakest point of the bacteria’s replication process. What is the weakest point of the process is?
-
The weakest point in the cell wall of bacteria are the glycoproteins and the porins for the intake of the antibiotics. The cell has the ability that renders the antibiotic to pass through the cell wall right away. However some of the bacterias have a Mdr gene, which is responsible for the resistance of the drug to which the bacteria is put through. So the activation of mdr gene will result of the expulsion or degradation of the antibiotic.
